I always write back (:
Monday was a great day! I got my ensign and we had a pretty relaxed pday, although it still seemed busy. But I got my ensign, so now I can re read all the conference talks :D
Tuesday we had 2 great lessons! And we gained a new investigator! Her name is Rebecca! She is super sweet, and super sincere about learning about the gospel! We are so excited to continue to teach her! (: And the other lesson was with our sweet Lauren! She is so cute!
Wednesday we had correlation with one of our wards, which was fun. We got to go out with the Relief Society, SUPER FUN!
Thursday, we had the wonderful opportunity to meet a seventy, called of God, Elder Porter and his wife! It was so cool, he taught us more in depth about the gospel of Jesus Christ (Faith, repentance, baptism, the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the End).  Sister Stovall I did a musical number too! That was fun (:
Friday we had planning. We also had another lesson with Rebecca and Lauren!
Saturday was another busy day, we did lots of Area Book work and lots of organizing then dinner at the Susims and we had GREAT Hawaiian food! (:
Sunday was probably the busiest day of the week, we had a lesson, correlation, church, we shared the temple videos with the Young Women and Relief Society in Mt Ranch ward, then we went to one of the Elders wards to share the message as well, then after church we had dinner, and then went home for the night! Super fun week! I look forward to this coming week!
Love you all and hope to hear from you soon! (:

Week 34 My new hair do! Like it?

Hellooo!! This week, as usual has been awesome! (:

Started off the week with good ole pday and guess what?  Sister Stovall, my awesome companion is a cosmetologist and so she experimented with my hair.. Well I love it! And everyone tells me how cute it is, so I'm pretty content.  ;)

Tuesday was a pretty good day too! As it normally goes, we had district meeting, it was last district meeting before transfers, so of course we had to get pictures! How cute are we! After that it was just a normal day for missionary work (:

Wednesday we had a transfer meeting, and it was so funny because like no one recognized me.. A sister came up to me and was like, "Are you new?" and a few seconds later realized that it was me.. she went on to say, "Oh my, I'm so embarrassed... haha" So yeah, the hair thing made a really good impression on all the missionaries and the mission president. haha.

Thursday we had a lesson with a new investigator, named Lauren. She's 10 years old and SUPER cute. We are teaching her next week too! Her parents had previously taken the missionary lessons but weren't ready to join the church. But Lauren is the light in her family. She actually talked to a member about getting baptized. She went up to the member and said, "I've been reading my bible lately, and coming to church and feeling the spirit but i feel I need to do something more... I think I need to get baptized."  And with her parents permission, we started teaching her! So cute!

Friday was a great planning day, after planning though we went back to the apartment because Sister Stovall wasn't feeling to hot. She was super congested and just needed to sleep. I did lots of studying and area book work for the next couple days. I did lots of cleaning as well.

Sunday I was able to go with one of the other sisters that lives with us, to go to present the temple presentation, super good day, and we started prepping for pday! Anyways love all of you and miss you like crazy! Hope to hear from you soon!

This week for some reason felt like it went by so quick but then at the same time it went by SUPER slow.. long days and fast weeks, I guess.. Haha, First off Happy Veterans Day! I just wanna start off by thanking all of you who I know who have served! Thank you for your service and the opportunity you have given me and many others to protect our country and the freedoms we have; So thank you!!
This week like I said was so crazy but it was super fun. Monday was as usual was PDAY! We ended up having dinner and FHE with the Sanchez Family! They took us to this really awesome yummy snow cone place down near the San tan Mall. Cant remember what its called though..
Monday night to Tuesday night we had exchanges with the Sister Training Leaders. Instead of switching she just came with me and Sister Stovall to our area. Sister Anderson is awesome!
Wednesday we taught the seminary class about the temple open house and how they can invite there friends. It was super fun!! :)
Thursday we had interviews with President and a training on how to sanctify ourselves! It was great!
Friday we had planning.
And Saturday we had a awesome, "I didn't get married, I went on a mission instead" party, thrown by Sister Sanchez. :)) It was so much fun! :)
Sunday we had a musical number in the Mt Ranch ward, and All of our investigators came to church! yay! Great week for sure!
Thanks so much for all the support and love!

Week 32, Halloween Missionary Style....

CRAZZY AWESOME WEEK!
Above is a link to a great video, I highly suggest watching it :)
Anyways this week was fantastic, lots of miracles that happened! We'll start the week with Monday, we did the typical pday stuff and its so exiting because I started a new life style change. New eating habits (less sugar and sodium and carbs) and way more exercise that I was doing before. I've been running bleachers and running the track, riding my bike more and all that good stuff. And in the week that I have don't it, I've lost 5 pounds :) Monday we also did the Boot camp workout at the church with all the other moms. It was tons of fun!
Tuesday we had 2 lessons! We had a lesson with Beth, we haven't talked to her in a while. And was really surprised that she met with us. We kinda started her on a goal thing, she knows the church is true and that the Book of Mormon is true, but she told us she wants to be 100% committed to the baptism stuff. So we helped her set goals. Her first goal was to come to church consistently. And she did!!! She came to church, even with her husband and kids!! We also had a lesson with Jacob! He is on date for baptism for the 23rd of November!
Wednesday we had a trunk or treat for the Meridan Pointe Ward, and it was a HUGE success. The whole thing was geared toward missionary work, and it was spot on!! We went from having 2 investigators to 5!! Its so exciting to see how the Lord works! This ward defiantly needed the blessings too. They have worked so hard to see missionary work blossom. (Oh! and One of the girls dressed up as a missionary!) :)

Sister Holcomb was talking about her mom's chili with someone in her ward and they message to get the recipe.  This is her getting to sample it.
Thursday was halloween, so because missionaries arent supposed to be out, we had a big mission confrence from 11 to 4 and we were in by 5pm. President let us watch 2 approved movies. Epruims rescue and 17 miracles. Both great movies!
Friday we had planning! Woohoo! ;) and Saturday I hit 8 months out!!
It was truley a great week, Im excited for the many miracles that the Lord has instore for this week!
Keep strong, and keep pushing on! I love and miss you all!
Love,
Sister Holcomb

Week 30?! You aint seen nothing yet!

Hello Everyone! This week was way more exciting then last week, I got over some sickness, flu stuff and now feeling A LOT better then I was. I'm so excited to tell you all the great things that happened this last week!
Like normal, all the typical things that happened on Mondays occurred. Email, laundry, cleaning, and groceries. BUT we also played half and half basketball/volleyball. We also ate dinner with this new ward member, they just moved here from Tuscan, and so we got to know them! On our way home we were driving and this NICE BMW pulls off 202, and we are like... of course its someone from the east coast, and he's from Michigan. So we pull up, and we are just staring at the car cuz its SUPER nice, and the guy in the car rolls down his window and starts talking to us... we are like Oh dang!! So we just rolled down our window too. He asked us why we were driving so slow and we just told him we were going the speed limit. Because we were, but we were also staring at his car. LOL.  He tells us to pull over in the light so we can talk to him.. we then tell him that we are missionaries, and then he says... "Well, what if I wanna go to ya'lls church?". Yes, so we pulled over and talked to him. We found out his name, and where he lived. He told us he wanted to go to church, so we got his number so we could text him the address.  It's cool to think that if we wouldn't gone home at the time we did, we wouldn't have talked to him and he wouldn't have had the opportunity to hear about the gospel.
Tuesday was great, we had district meeting like normal, but it was one of the Zone Leaders birthday! So we went out to In-n-Out! (Mom, don't be jelllyyy! ;] ) Well, our whole zone ended up getting paid for! SWAAAEEEETTT!  P.S. Mom, I haven't had in n out since I was in Utah back in March.  :P  Later that night we had dinner with one of my favorite families in the MT. Ranch ward. The Bawdens! Cutest kids ever. Well we shared a message with them after the dinner, and  Brother Bawden asked his oldest son, graham to bare his testimony.. (He's 4) So, the cutest and funniest thing ever happened!!!  He said these exact words. " I know my family is real, I know the missionaries are real, I know the church is real,.. I know the earth is fake.." Hahaha, cutest kid EVER! So funny too. But it was a fun night.
Wednesday night we had splits with the young women. SUPER awesome! I got to go with a 17 year old named Sierra, it was a really cool experience for me, because she is my Sisters age. It made me think of what kind of impact I had on her, as a missionary. She told me later that night that she was 75% sure she was going on a mission and that I had helped her boost that decision.
Thursday we had an appointment with a Recent Convert. He is leaving for his mission in 2 weeks, and has been a convert for a year!! What faith!! He leaves for Mexico, we answered all the questions he had about missionary stuff and was able to help him with things that he might need. Later that night we had dinner with another member family. SUPER missionary minded family. They have a family that they have been talking to about the gospel, so hopefully we'll be able to see something happening soon with them!
Friday we had Jacob's lesson, which was great! Jacob is Matthew's little brother. (The boy that recently got baptized) He's 9 so its a little more challenging to teach about gospel concepts, but it should be fun, lots to learn from too! :) We went over to the Sanchez families house to make some rice crispies, and we used them to BOO (Halloween version) people's houses. Its kinda like a ding, dong, ditch concept. Anyway, we BOOed some potential investigators house's which was fun. :)
Saturday was just a normal Saturday, until we got the text from our zone leaders that the GILBERT TEMPLE OPENING IS ON JANUARY 18TH 2014!!!! (That's my birthday!!) SO I'M SUPER EXCITED!! Anyone is welcome to come to tour the temple from January 18th to February 15th. :)
Sunday was great, in both wards that we cover, there were primary programs! SO CUTE! This was one of my favorite songs they sang. It was definitely touching :')
If the Savior stood beside me,
would I do the things I do?
Would I think of His commandments,
and try harder to be true?
Would I follow His example?
Would I live more righteously
if I could see the Savior standing nigh,
watching over me?
If the Savior stood beside me,
would I say the things I say?
Would my words be true and kind
if He was never far away?
Would I try to share the gospel?
Would I speak more rev’rently
if I could see the Savior standing nigh,
watching over me?
He is always near me,
though I do not see Him there,
And because He loves me dearly,
I am in His watchful care.
So I’ll be the kind of person
that I know I’d like to be
if I could see the Savior standing nigh,
watching over me.
Love that song, a good way to end the week. Have a great week everyone!
Love,
Sister Lindsay Holcomb <3
