Week 46! Transfers, missionary work, etc.

Well here's the short and sweet update for the week! As you all know, transfer calls happened, and I got called to train! Best thing ever by the way! My new companions name is Sister Wiggins, she from Robinsville North Carolina, and she's 21 years old! She is so funny and makes me laugh all the time! She is a super solid missionary, and is always willing to work hard!

We moved closer to our area!!! We live at this address now!

We mostly just went over the area book and we set goals for this transfer. She taught her first lesson on Sunday and we re committed Rebecca for baptism! March 1st is the day, so that her husband can be ready to baptize her. She is ready, but she wants her family (being her husband) to be ready too.

Friday we had planned a lesson with Donna but she wasn't feeling well at all. She had asked us to come with her to the doctor because her husband had to be with there daughters selling girl scout cookies. So we went with her to help her. We were in the doctors office and I got an impression to ask her if she wanted a priesthood blessing and she said yes, she would like one. So we called the ward mission leader, and the bishop to come give her a blessing. It was a beautiful blessing and we found out later that next day that she had told her daughter, and her daughter told the Bishops daughter and she told us, that she knew (from the blessing) that everything was going to be alright, and that she was going to be better. She told us the next day that she felt a lot better, and even came to church!!!!! Her husband and daughters even went to church was a miracle in itself!

A lot of this week was just helping sister Wiggins get to know the area more so we did a lot of member visits. But all in all, a good week!

Hope to hear from you all sooon! have a great week!

Love always, Sister Holcomb (:

P.S. Generation pic!!! All the trainees and trainers!

P.S.S My new companion is AWESOME!

Week 45 I'M TRAINING AGAIN!!

So this week has been a crazy circle of emotions, happy, excited, sad, stressed, and excited all over. This week had a ton of miracles and we are excited for the work to keep progressing, we taught 20 lessons this week, and gained 3 new investigators!

Monday, we did temple tours and had time to do normal pday stuff, and did some missionary work, it was a super fast day for us!

Tuesday we finished off our prep day, and had an appt. with Rebecca. After the morning appt, we ran over to district meeting which was great! We learned a lot of sanctification and obedience. We had a lesson with Donna's daughter Erin, and we are gonna start teaching her too!!!  She is so excited to read the Book of Mormon!

Wednesday, we had interviews with President. I'm so glad he is guiding our mission, he has so much insight on everything, he asked me what I would comfortable doing in my area, and I told him whatever the spirit guides, and now I'm training a new missionary!!!!!! After interviews we also had Laurens baptism interview.

Thursday we had another appointment with Rebecca which went really well. She's on date again for the 15th. We had a last lesson with Lauren too, we taught her the rest of what she needed to know. Then we helped the family clean there back yard for her baptism the coming Saturday!

Friday we had a busy busy day! We had planning in the morning, then we had a lesson with Donna and our new investigator Sherri. Sherri has been coming to church for the past couple weeks, and is SUPER prepared! She told us that she knows that if we read the Book of Mormon, she'd get her answer, so she's scared to read it! We committed her to read it though.

Saturday we had Lauren's baptism!!!!! And we had dinner and a message with Donna and her family!

Sunday we set up an appointment with Lauren's brother Brandon and we are gonna start teaching him! And Sunday night we had church of course. We were on our way home and I got a prompting to stop by this referral that we had gotten... it was like 15 till we had to be in, but i couldn't deny the prompting.. well long story short, the referral was sleeping and we ended up having a really good conversation with his son Hector, he was super interested in learning and we gave him a book of Mormon and a few Christ dvds. We were still on time to get in and yes! again, I'M TRAINING!!! I'm so excited!

Have a good week everyone! Love you all!

Week 44, ALL ABOUT THE TEMPLE!

So guess what? There are 52 weeks in a year.... I've been out for 44... TIME FLIES!!! I cant believe that Ive been out for almost a year!!!

Anyways this week was fantastic! The Gilbert temple is giving us the great opportunity for missionary work, I can see some of the blessings of the open house unfolding for us and our investigators!

Monday was the norm crazy busy prep day for the week, Tuesday was the day that was busy(... well and the rest of the week!) We had a lesson with a RC, we mostly just did service for her actually but then shared and scripture and left. She has these cute parakeet birds and we helped clean the cage.

Wednesday we went to the seminary class to follow up with the students about the Gilbert Temple house invites with there friends, and it was cool to see how strong the youth are. They all raised there hands when we asked them of who of them invited there friends to the open house!  We had a lesson with Rebecca that day, she is still on track to be baptized. Her husband wants to baptize her so it might be pushed back to the 1st instead of the 8th though. Then for the rest of the night we had tours for the temple! So fun!

Thursday we had lots of cool things happen too. I love being a missionary!!! We did the morning shift for the temple tours from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm and it was so great!  Then RIGHT after we got done we had to speed over to a lesson with Rebecca, which was great! She is so ready for baptism, plus I know she would be a great member of the church! (: Right after the lesson with Rebecca we went straight over to the lesson with Lauren, then we went to the temple with her family (: It was a great experience and after we were done at the temple we went out to YC's, its a super yummy place to eat Mongolian grill food!

Friday was also a great day! We had normal planning with the zone and we had a few appointments too! One with Donna and one with Lauren, right after Laurens lesson, we had dinner with the Waghers and headed to the temple with there non member neighbors! They also brought there 2 grandkids, and they were so CUTE! They little boy just kept saying, "Look Grandma, its the big castle…. do we get to go inside?"

Saturday was a super big day for us as well, We went to the temple with Rebecca and her family (Rebecca is the one with the pink shirt on) and we ALSO went to the temple with Donna and her family as well! We talked a lot to her daughter Erin, who is also participating in the Cultural Celebration, about taking the lessons, and she said yes! So we are excited to start teaching her as well (:  After going to the temple with Donna and her family they took us to this place called Joe's Farm Grill and its super yummy!

Sunday we had church like normal and a lesson with Lauren in-between both wards! She is ready for her baptismal interview this week and her baptism this Saturday the 1st! Wooohooo!!!

But this week was all about the temple and teaching and busy missionary work! I hope all of to those who are reading this, that your weeks are fantastic! More to come next week! May the Lord bless you in all you do! Love and Miss you all like crazy!! (:

Here's a quote that I'd all like for you to read!

“I can see the future unfold before us to where we will have greater opportunity to teach the gospel with the new methods, with new opportunities that we have never had.” —Elder L. Tom Perry of the Quorum of the Twelve

For behold this is my work, and my glory to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man Moses 1:39 -- Ponder on that, pray on that, and help out your missionaries! Let's be united in the work of salvation, (or missionary work) and we will always have success!

Week 43! Im no longer a teen!!!!

This last week, was pretty fantastic!! Monday was mostly pday and we prepped with President Nattress for the upcoming open house of the Gilbert Temple. We went over what we would be apart of for the open house and what our shifts would be, considering we still have to manage our areas and be apart of the open house! Talk about stress and fun all mixed in one!

Tuesday was normal with District meeting, had another training for the temple and we had a lesson with Rebecca and it was super good! She is now on date for baptism for the 1st of February! She is so prepared and she doesn't really realize it. Its funny because we asked her to be baptized and she is like, "That's just a goal, right?" And we told her yes, but then we also told her that we prayed about that day, and that we were very confident she could be ready by that day and I think that helped her a little bit. (:

Wednesday was also a pretty successful day!  We had 2 lessons!

One with Donna and another with Rebecca! We taught Donna about baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost. And we taught Rebecca about the plan of salvation! Both lessons were a success!!

Thursday was a rough day, I started getting sick again. The congestion from whats been going around hit me like a brick wall. We mostly stayed in side. I felt like my head was going to blow up!

Friday we had a lesson with Lauren and Donna! They both went great! Put Lauren on date for the 1st as well. We have been trying to get a date for her for baptism but its hard to meet more then once a week, So hopefully we'll keep with this date!

Saturday was probably the busiest day of the week! We woke up earlier then normal so that we could get ready for the TEMPLE OPEN HOUSE! Yes, its true I got to work with the temple stuff on my birthday! (: After the 4 hour shift of working at the temple we had a lesson with Lauren, Rebecca and then we had dinner with a member, who made me an AWESOME dinner! And these members know how to spoil me!!!  I came home after dinner to a package of flowers (: Thanks Grant!

Best week, in a while! We were busy with the Lord's work, and that's the thing that truly makes me happy (:

Week 42- TEMPLE OPENS THIS WEEK!!!!

This past few weeks have been kinda crazy so I apologize for not being consistent with doing updates. This week is the most exciting thing is happening! My birthday & the Temple Open house for the Gilbert temple!!! I'm uber excited!!  Although that's happening this week, there wasn't to much exciting things that happened this past week, I was sick for the most part.

Tuesday through Saturday I was sick and we didn't accomplish much. We had a few lessons with Donna and Lauren, but other then that it was hard to get out when all of that other stuff was happening. Although I was sick on Saturday, We had a Arizona Scottsdale, Mesa and Gilbert Mission conference kinda thing. We got to hear from Elder Wright. One of the seventy in the area. It was really good, and I was able to really feel the spirit. Elder Holland was originally supposed to be there, but he got sick :( Kind of a bummer, but it was still very spiritual experience. Later that night we had stake conference for our stake. And what I forgot to mention was that I gave a talk that night. Our stake president asked me 2 weeks before to give a talk and I accepted. It was super nerve racking since Id never given a talk at the stake level but not only on top of me being nervous, but I lost my voice... So it was really hard to talk. I'm grateful for the opportunity to speak.

That's really all that happened this week! Hopefully the pics help make it better!

Love Sister Holcomb!

P.S. The first picture is a picture of me and our investigator Lauren! ♥

Next one is of Sister Minkler, Lauren and I.   (:

Next one is Sister Thompson & I!!!!!! She's in the Scottsdale mission & it was WAY good to see her!!
